Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

These Terms and Conditions of Service are an agreement, written and developed collaboratively among all gNewBook users, to establish the basis on which the site operates, as well as terms for the use thereof and the privacy policy.

gNewBook is a service platform intended to support collaboration, integration, and communication between its users, forming a social network whose fundamental principles are freedom (as established in the philosophy of the Free Software movement), information, and user privacy.

Respect for Freedom is our greatest interest, and, as such, we seek to provide a collaborative, reliable, and honest service, according to the principles established in the Free Software movement, as gNewBook develops as a social network originally sponsored by the Fundación GNUCHILE, and currently administered in cooperation with various organizations, communities, and persons, supported by a Free Software platform, and, in which we are constantly vigilant to ensure that all resources, functions, and formats are Free Software, as established in the Free Software Foundation's definition.

You information will only remain stored on our systems while you determine that it be so. No information is stored without your express consent, and you will always have the option to edit or delete your stored data. All information recorded in gNewBook is stored only for the purposes of offering the service for which you entered said information in order to ensure the maximum availability and security technically possible, as established in Organic Law no. 19.628 for Protection of Personal Data of the Republic of Chile, and in accordance with other legal systems which include the principle of "Habeas Data" for the protection of personal information.  This, gNewBook users will always have the ability to create, modify, review, and delete any information that they have recorded on the site. 

All personal information, data, images, text, posts, etc. which have been published on our site belong to and are the responsibility of the user who uploads or publishes them.  No restriction applies beyond those the user wishes to apply in terms of their copyrights to said information. Any materials added to the site that are found to be in violation of a copyright will be eliminated. As such, when you publish an image that is rightfully yours, it shall remain ALWAYS yours; We are not interested in coopting possession of your work as other sites with similar functions do. Additionally, it is important to note that, with the simple act of uploading or publishing any form of information or media, you authorize display of said information or media according to the security configurations that you have established at the time of publication, by which you may determine who may or may not have access to said media or information.

No information is kept, other than that which you expressly provide, with the exception of that which, for technical reasons, is relevant for optimization of the service and to ensure operation thereof, such as IP address and geolocation data obtained from your IP address.  This information is eliminated every 30 days after processing and analysis thereof.

All gNewBook user data is backed up offline for a maximum period of 30 days to ensure operation of the service in the event of loss and/or damage to the infrastructure, and upon completion of this period, said data is deleted from our records. If a user deletes their account, this information will be eliminated from the site's active database within 48 hours, and completely eliminated from back ups upon completion of this same time period.  As such, recovery of old records is impossible after the indicated periods, as all relevant information is eliminated.

No information is offered or sold to third parties for any reason or circumstance. We strive to maintain the highest levels of security that the technical resources at our disposal can offer, and confirm our commitment to your privacy and the security of your personal information.  Furthermore, your profile information, such as username and password, are encrypted, and the encryption is modified each time you log on to the site with the use of mathematical algorithms and security techniques.

Any advertising displayed on the site will always be related to matters and issues directly relevant to the site and its participants, and will always be maintained at the least intrusive or annoying level possible, offering a service free from annoying ads from third parties, and no personal information will be provided for this purpose.

Site administrators have access only at the level required to allow them to conduct their support functions, and critical information is always encrypted to prevent misuse thereof.  We advise that you never share your login information with anybody, including site administrators, who do not have access to this information, and can only request modification thereof. Do not publish information critical to your privacy in many manner.  We are not interested in storing information beyond that necessary to offer the service that you seek, and the less private information we have, the better, as you will be reminded every time you log into the site.

All integration of third party services, such as Identi.ca, will be suject to the terms and conditions that the providers thereof determine.  You are invited to read their Terms of Use for further information.

Registration and use of the gNewBook site implies agreement and acceptance of these principles. The Courts of the City of Santiago de Chile are established as the only competent courts with jurisdiction for resolution of any dispute or disagreement arising from these terms and conditions, or other disputes arising from the use of gNewBook, that result in any form of legal action in which gNewBook users, the Fundación GNUCHILE, or any other organization sponsoring the gNewBook project is involved.
